Did XXXTentacion Know He Was Going To Die? News Of Rapper’s Will May Fuel Speculation
The 20-year-old rapper filed a will prior to his death, leaving everything to his family.
Did XXXTentacion know he was going to die before it happened?
The “Look At Me” rapper was shot and killed while leaving a motorcycle dealership earlier this month in what may have been a robbery attempt. Since then, some fans have speculated that XXXTentacion knew that he was going to die, and news that the 20-year-old rapper had drafted and signed a will prior to his death may only fuel such speculation.
According to the will XXXTentacion filed before his death — and which was later acquired by TMZ — he left all of his property in trust and named his mother, Cleopatra Bernard, as trustee. Bernard later named herself and XXXTentacion’s two brothers as beneficiaries.
His will also reportedly states that he had no children. Bernard revealed last week that her son was expecting a child when he was killed, but XXXTentacion reportedly signed his will in November – likely long before his unidentified girlfriend became pregnant.
News of XXXTentacion’s will further begs the question: Did he know he was going to die?
Shortly after his death, an Instagram Live video began circulating online that features the rapper discussing the legacy he’d like to leave behind, and seemingly foreshadowing his own death.
“Worse thing comes to worst, I f*cking die a tragic death or some sh*t and I'm not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” he said.
“If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me,” he continued.
It’s unclear when the video was recorded, as it’s undated, CNN reports.
With the posthumous release of his “SAD!” music video — which depicted the rapper’s funeral, in a downright eerie example of art imitating life — fans have continued to speculate that he was somehow aware of his impending death before it occurred. XXXTentacion having a will at such a young age, while perhaps not too unusual for celebrities, may continue stoking those fires.
Prior to his death, XXXTentacion’s life was filled with controversy — most notably due to allegations that he’d violently abused a former girlfriend. He was awaiting trial when he was killed.
Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 20, was arrested last week in connection with XXXTentacion’s murder, and booked on charges including first degree murder, probation violation for theft of a car, and driving without a valid license. Police named Robert Allen, 22, as a person of interest on Wednesday, CNN reports.
