Snapped Celebrates 20 Years with an Explosive Special: "Internet's First Murder Trial"
Snapped is kicking off a new batch of episodes with a fresh look at a past case.
Calling all true crime fans! Snapped is officially celebrating its 20th anniversary.
That's right. The true-crime docuseries, which examines disturbing cases of women who murder, has aired well over 500 episodes since it first premiered on Oxygen True Crime in 2004.
To commemorate the milestone, Snapped is kicking off a new batch of Season 33 episodes with a two-hour special on Sunday, May 12 at 6/5c on Oxygen True Crime.
Here's what to know about the occasion:
How long has Snapped been on TV?
Snapped first premiered in 2004, and has now aired 33 seasons over 20 years. By the time Season 33 ends, Snapped will have 646 episodes in total.
In fact, Snapped is so popular, it's launched three spinoffs including Snapped: Killer Couples, currently in its 17th season, Snapped: Behind Bars, which will premiere its second season later this year, and Snapped: Notorious.
What to Know About Snapped Season 33
Snapped Season 33 will continue to dive into the stories of women who kill.
"From socialites to secretaries, from moms to mistresses and everything in between, Snapped has given true crime fans what they crave — tales of ordinary and extraordinary women, of all ages and from all backgrounds who were driven to murder. With reasons as varied as insurance payoffs, extramarital affairs or ending years of abuse, the women share one thing: they all snapped," reads a press release about the upcoming season.

Snapped Season 33 will return Sunday, May 12 at 6/5c on Oxygen True Crime.
What is the Snapped 20th anniversary special about?
The two-hour special will take a look back at a case that was previously featured on the series — the story of Sharee Miller — but will feature shocking new information about the crime.
"20 years in the making, the Snapped special reexamines the Internet’s first murder trial, taking viewers back to the days of internet chat rooms and clever screen names, VHS tapes sent via snail mail, and a veritable scarcity of cell phones. During this time, Sharee Miller, a twisted seductress with a skill for manipulation, is convicted of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. After time in prison, she has a second chance at life and love when her story is examined on Snapped. What follows is a stunning final update in her case," a press release explained.
Snapped is produced by Jupiter Entertainment. Patrick Reardon, Madeline Griffey and David O’Donnell executive produce.
