As rains continue to batter Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which hit Texas on Friday night, images from the storm show disastrous flooding, including highways that look like rivers and people being rescued from their homes by helicopter.
At least five people are dead as the result of the Category 4 hurricane, The New York Times reported, and large numbers of homes and businesses have been destroyed.
“This event is unprecedented & all impacts are unknown & beyond anything experienced,” the National Weather Service said on Twitter on Sunday. “Follow orders from officials to ensure safety.”
