Demi Lovato ‘Getting Better’ With Visits From Ex-Boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama After Apparent Overdose
Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama broke up in 2016 after spending nearly six years together.
After suffering an apparent drug overdose last week, Demi Lovato has been recovering in the hospital, sources say — with her ex Wilmer Valderrama by her side.
Paramedics who were called to Lovato’s home in the Hollywood Hills on Tuesday reportedly arrived to find the 25-year-old singer unconscious. She was later treated with naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal medication, NBC News reports.
According to new reports, however, Lovato is getting better with her ex Valderrama making frequent visits to her bedside. Lovato and Valderrama’s nearly six-year relationship ended in 2016, but the 38-year-old actor was spotted visiting Lovato at the hospital on Wednesday, and again on Thursday, according to E! News.
Valderrama, known for his role in "That '70s Show," stayed with Lovato for about five hours on Thursday, TMZ reports.
Lovato has been open about her struggle with addiction, and celebrated six years sober in March.
With the release of the song “Sober” in June, Lovato revealed that she had fallen off of the wagon with heartfelt lyrics like, “I’m sorry that I’m here again. I promise I’ll get help. It wasn’t my intention. I’m sorry to myself.”
Following news of Lovato’s condition, a slew of celebrities took to social media to show their support — including another one of Lovato’s exes, Joe Jonas, who wrote on Twitter, “Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now. She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are Demi.”
