In the late 1970s, serial killer David Berkowitz carried out eight shootings across multiple boroughs that left seven people wounded and six others dead. Calling himself the Son of Sam, Berkowitz was not linked to the crimes until New York police departments connected the shootings, which took place across multiple boroughs.
