Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project
Kim Kardashian West works to shine a light on stories of people she believes have paid their debt to society while also bringing awareness to America’s growing problem with mass incarceration.
Professor and advocate Marc Howard’s work in criminal justice reform began after his childhood friend was wrongfully convicted of murder. Now, he’s aiming to reform the prison system on a national level.
Prior to Reginald McFadden’s 1994 killing spree, a 3-2 majority vote was all that was needed for a prisoner to be recommended for commutation in Pennsylvania.
"She’s one of the most powerful forces in criminal justice, and her story was really inspiring to me,” Kardashian West said of #cut50 co-founder Jessica Jackson.
Although Kim Kardashian West believes there is an “appropriate time” that people who have committed crimes should serve in prison, she says many of those behind bars deserve the chance to reform themselves.
