Louisiana Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With 16-Year-Old Multiple Times
Ty’re Venious, a substitute teacher in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, allegedly told police he had at least four sexual encounters with the teen student.
Months after a teacher at a Louisiana elementary school was accused of abuse, a different teacher in the same area has been charged for allegedly having sex with a teenage student multiple times.
Substitute teacher Ty’re Venious, 21, was arrested Tuesday and charged with four counts of felony carnal knowledge with a juvenile and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. Venious had allegedly told investigators of at least four sexual encounters he had with a 16-year-old male who attended the school. The sex acts allegedly occurred between August and October of 2018.
Venious had been employed as a teacher at several schools in the Bossier Parish and had been a volunteer with the Bossier High School band. A Bossier Parish School spokesperson confirmed that he had been teaching at Princeton Elementary School, Greenacres Middle School, and Rusheon Middle School for the past four months, according to Newsweek.
Venious is currently being held at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility as of Wednesday, according to the Bossier Sheriff's Department Facebook page. His bond has not yet been set and an investigation is ongoing.
The Bossier Parish Schools confirmed that Venious is no longer employed at their institutions.
"Mr. Venious was immediately terminated by Bossier Schools as a substitute teacher upon notification charges were filed by the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office," reads Wednesday statement from the schools, according to BRProud.com, a Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based news organization. "Just to be clear, Mr. Venious and his victim met some time ago outside of the school environment. The teen was never under his supervision, nor did the alleged incidents occur on any Bossier Schools campus."
In October, another teacher in the same parish had been accused of sexual misconduct after the grandmother of a child contacted the Bossier Sheriff's Department with suspicions about the instructor's behavior, according to KTBS, a Shreveport, Louisiana-based news organization.
Aubrey Norcross, a P.E. teacher at the Bossier Parish elementary school, was officially indicted on one count of first-degree rape, eight counts of child molestation, two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of video voyeurism with children on Nov. 19.
Only one of the incidents involving Norcross allegedly occurred at the school, the others are believed to have occurred at his home, where he offered private archery tutoring. The victims, both boys and girls, were 11 years old and under.
Norcross has been fired by the school. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
