10th Grade Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With 15-Year-Old Student In Classroom
Kirstin Pike, 28, worked at the Houston-area school for three years and coached softball.
A woman who taught and coached at a high school in Dickinson, Texas is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student inside a classroom.
Former 10th-grade teacher Kirstin Pike, 28, was arrested Friday for improper relationship between an educator and a student, KTRK in Houston reported. The charge is a second-degree felony. The arrest came after a teen told investigators about the alleged incident, which he claimed happened at Dickinson High School in September of 2016. Dickinson and the high school are located within the greater Houston metropolitan area.
School officials say that they were made aware of the allegations earlier this month.
“The district immediately forwarded the information to CPS and law enforcement and is cooperating with authorities in the investigation,” the district said in a statement.
Pike stopped working with the school in June. In addition to teaching, Pike also worked as a softball coach, according to Click 2 Houston. She worked for the school for approximately three years.
The victim told the Galveston County Sheriff's Office that he had "consensual sexual contact and sexual intercourse" with Pike in a classroom. He told four of his friend about the alleged encounter. Police said all four corroborate his story to police.
Pike’s bail was set at $20,000. She was bonded out on Monday. She's scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20. It’s not clear if she has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf at this time.
The Houston area has seen an increase in teacher-sex scandals in recent years, KTRK reported.
