Florida Mom Seemingly Vanishes Out Of Relative's Driveway While Picking Up Kid
Kameela Russell's aunt said she saw her niece pull into her driveway, but moments later the car was gone.
Miami Gardens Police are searching for a Florida mom of two who vanished shortly after appearing at a relative’s home to pick up her children.
Kameela Russell, 41, who works as a test chairperson at Miami Norland Senior High, disappeared the night of May 15 under strange circumstances, leaving her family concerned about the mom’s current whereabouts.
Russell’s aunt Donna Blyden told local station WSVN that she thought she saw her niece’s car pull up in her driveway Wednesday night when Russell had arrived to pick up her 6-year-old daughter. However, the missing mom never came to the door, and when Blyden looked back out the window a few seconds later the black Audi A6 Russell had been driving was gone.
“I text her and I said, ‘Where are you?’ I said, ‘You were in the driveway just now, and now you’re not here. Where are you?” she told the station. “I didn’t get an answer.”
Russell hasn’t been seen since, and her family said it's unlike the missing mom to be gone so long without contacting her family.
“She’s got two girls, and they need to have their mom,” Blyden said.
Russell, who has a 6-year-old and 15-year-old daughter, does not have any known physical or mental health conditions, WPLG reports.
Russell has worked for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system since 2014. District officials are now asking for the public’s help to bring the mom back home.
“Kameela’s family is incredibly worried about her and we @MDCPS are praying for her swift and safe return. Please take a moment to look at her picture and call police if you have seen her," Superintendent Alberto Carvalho wrote in a tweet about the disappearance.
Students at the high school where Russell worked as a test chairperson are also concerned about her disappearance.
“It’s very crazy. I used to see her around a lot, always a smile. It was a real shock to see her missing and everything,” student Jamal Moss told WSVN. “I’m very concerned. I hope she’s like OK, and they find her soon.”
Miami Gardens Police have described Russell as 5’7”, weighing 165 pounds, with brown eyes. She was wearing her black hair in braids with purple streaks at the time of her disappearance. Investigators say she was last seen wearing gray leggings, a striped shirt, and sneakers.
