Dad Arrested After Driving Teens To Park To 'Do Their Thang' (As In Smoking And Having Sex), Cops Say
“Well, they aren’t out there stealing, they are just having sex,” Laurence Mitchell allegedly told police.
A Florida father was arrested after of driving his teen son to a local park so that he could have sex with his teen girlfriend, according to police.
At a little before midnight on Sept. 6, a police officer spotted Laurence Mitchell, 53, sitting in a parked Toyota at McChesney Park in Port St. Lucie after hours, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Oxygen.com.
The dad told the officer that his 15-year-old son asked Mitchell to pick up his 15-year-old girlfriend and drive them to the park so that they could “do their thang.”
Police said Mitchell didn’t know the girl and didn’t know if her parents were okay with her being out. But he said the kids could be doing worse.
“Well, they aren’t out there stealing, they are just having sex,” he allegedly told police.
The officer interviewed the two minors after they returned from the park’s soccer field. According to the report, the son allegedly told the cop that he and the girl were “just smokin’ and f--kin’.”
Police say the girl told the cop that she and Mitchell’s son “were engaged in sexual activity.”
When asked if Mitchell's dad knew that, she answered, “Well, I mean he drove us out here. But I don’t know.”
Mitchell was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor for “knowingly and admittedly driving two 15-year-old juveniles to a park after hours to commit sexual acts.” He was released from jail after posting a $750 bond, according to TC Palm. He is scheduled for a Sept. 25 arraignment hearing.
