Sex Offender Who Once Molested Toddler Allegedly Raped Daughter's Friend During Sleepover
James Michael Reed was considered a high risk sex offender when he allegedly attacked his daughter's friend at his home.
Three months after a Missouri man allegedly raped his daughter's friend during a sleepover, he has been charged with rape and sodomy. Sadly, it’s not the first sex crime crime he’s been charged with; he was convicted of sodomizing a toddler nearly 15 years ago.
James Michael Reed, 44, was arrested at his workplace this week in connection with the alleged June 30 incident, KSDK in St. Louis reports.
The victim went to a sleepover at Reed’s home when she says he entered the bedroom. She claimed the man restrained her when she tried to get away from him and sexually assaulted her, and that after Reed left, she called her mom and asked to be taken to a hospital, the outlet reports.
She also alleged he made crude sexual remarks at first when she tried to resist his advances.
It’s not clear how old the victim or Reed’s daughter is. After the girl reported the alleged rape, investigators went to Reed’s home to collect evidence and to talk to him.
An arrest warrant for Reed was issued on Sept. 9.
Reed is a registered sex offender who was convicted of sodomizing a 3-year-old girl in 2004, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s sex offender registry He is listed as a tier level 3 offender, which is considered a high risk offender.
Reed’s bond for the alleged rape of his daughter’s friend has been set at $100,000.
