Ice-T Arrested After Bypassing Bridge Toll
“I love how people think just because I ACT like a cop on SVU I get special treatment from real cops... lol,” the actor tweeted following the incident.
As annoying as it may be, no driver can get around paying tolls — not even Ice-T.
The 60-year-old actor and hip-hop veteran was arrested on Wednesday after neglecting to pay a toll while driving into New York City, TMZ reports.
Port Authority police collared Ice-T at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge that connects New Jersey to New York, according to the outlet’s law enforcement sources.
He reportedly attempted to pass through by driving in the Express Lane. But since he didn't appear to realize his vehicle didn't have a working E-ZPass tag, authorities proceeded to pull him over.
Port Authority police told Us Weekly that Ice-T was arrested for theft of services and given two summons before he was released on his own recognizance.
Ice-T addressed the incident via social media later that day.
“Cops went a little Extra. Coulda just wrote a ticket. In and out.. Moovin,” he tweeted. “I love how people think just because I ACT like a cop on SVU I get special treatment from real cops... lol,” he wrote in a second tweet.
Ice-T told TMZ that the situation was one big mix-up, explaining that, while he has several E-Z Passes in his other cars, he forgot to make sure his new McLaren was equipped with one before passing through the lane.
Funnily enough, Ice-T also said that he was headed to the set of “Law & Order: SVU” after his toll drama — a series on which he’s played a detective for more than a decade.
