Florida ‘Monster’ Gets Caught Looking At Child Porn In Doctor's Office, Police Say
Keith Garrand, 63, also admitted to sexually abusing children, police say.
A Florida man is behind bars after medical facility employees caught him looking at child porn while in their office, police say. What's more, the man also allegedly confessed to molesting children soon after his unsavory viewing habits were discovered.
Staff at a Highlands County health facility called authorities on Friday after allegedly catching Keith Garrand, 63, looking at images of child porn on his laptop while receiving treatment in their office, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. Highlands County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the medical facility where they allegedly found child pornography on the laptop he brought to the doctor’s office.
They said that Garrard admitted to possessing the images, and he allegedly confessed to having pornography at his home in Frostproof. Police say he also admitted to using his cell phone camera to take photos of young children he sees in public.
After a search warrant was executed at Garrard’s home, police in Polk County seized several of his electronic devices for forensic analysis. But before they even inspected the devices, police say they found 68 printed images of children as young as 6 months old being sexually battered. They conducted a second interview with Garrard, who allegedly told them he has been viewing child pornography for two decades.
Detectives interviewed witnesses connected to Garrand’s case, and discovered he sexually battered three different victims when they were children—allegations, police say, Garrard confessed to.
“This monster is behind bars today because someone saw something, and said something,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. “During the child pornography investigation, we further learned that he has sexually abused children—a crime which has no statute of limitations. We will do everything in our power to ensure he never has access to children again.”
Police charged Garrand with 68 counts possession of child pornography and four counts of sexual battery. He’s being held without bond. More charges are pending the forensic analysis of his electronic devices, police say.
