3 Family Members Sentenced For Beating, Stomping Pregnant Teen So She Would Miscarry Brother's Child
When the relatives learned she was eight months pregnant, the group tried to force Plan B birth control pills into the victim's mouth so that she would miscarry.
Three relatives from Dallas, Texas have been convicted of brutally beating and stomping a 13-year-old girl, who was raped and impregnated by her 24-year-old brother, until she miscarried in 2013.
The victim's aunt, Sharon Jones, 47, of Dallas, and two of her adult children Cedric Jones Jr., 29, and Cecila McDonald, 28, were sentenced last week for their part in the violence, The Dallas Morning News reported.
The trio weren’t the only family members who helped injure the victim. The victim’s younger sister, then 12, was also forced to hold her down.
“Most people would treat strangers better,” prosecutor Rachel Burris said during the sentencing hearing. “Yet these people did it to someone they promised to love. [...] They held her down. They forced her to lay there while people stomped her. It was savage.”
According to Fox13, Sharon Jones was given 12 years in prison. Cedric Jones was sentenced to five, while his sister Cecila received seven. All three pleaded guilty to felony family violence aggravated assault, according to the Associated Press. Yet another family member, Lonnell McDonald, was convicted of aggravated assault two years ago, stemming from the incident. He was given 10 years in prison, according to The Dallas Morning News.
The sexual assault reportedly occurred at the home of Cecila and Lonnell McDonald, where the victim and her siblings were living after their grandmother died. The 13-year-old girl told authorities that she had disclosed the sexual assault to Jones and Cecila once they found out the older brother had sexually abused McDonald's own three young children. The two were reportedly afraid that Cecila would lose custody of her children, so they never reported the young girl's allegations.

Cecila allegedly yelled at the poor teen girl during the violent assault: “(Expletive), you ain’t about to get my kids taken away from me.”
After hours of violence, the girl was put in a bathtub, where she eventually miscarried. Then, the stillborn baby was reportedly put on a grill and burned, and its remains were hidden.
“To this day, we don’t know what happened to that baby,” Burris said in the past in court.
The Dallas Morning News reported the brother has been found mentally incompetent to stand trial, and his criminal charges are currently stalled.
