Substitute Nurse Had Underage Student Drive Her To Hotel Because She Said She Was Too Drunk, Then Propositioned Him
The male student rejected Delena Clever's advances, "otherwise she would find herself in a prison cell instead," said prosecutor David P. Fornshell.
A substitute nurse working for two school districts in Ohio pleaded guilty Monday to multiple misdemeanors for making sexual advances on an underage student.
Delena Clever, 48, was sentenced to 60 days in jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and making sexual advances on a minor. She has also been registered as a Tier I sex offender.
According to a statement by Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell, Clever had been serving both the Little Miami and Kings Local School Districts as a nurse when she texted a male student in August 2018 and requested for him to drive her around. She informed the student that she was intoxicated and had him drive her to a Deerfield Township hotel. After taking him to the room she was renting there, Clever made sexual advances and offered him alcohol and marijuana.
“Clever is lucky that the underage student ultimately rebuffed her sexual advances,” said Fornell in his statement on Tuesday. “Otherwise she would find herself in a prison cell instead of spending local time in the county jail.”
While the student refused to engage in any sexual activity and said he wanted to go home, during the car ride back Clever allegedly reached over the seat and touched the underaged boy’s genitals over his clothing.
Clever was sentenced by Judge Joseph Kirby the same day she pleaded guilty and will now spend two months in the Warren County Jail.
