School Headmaster Known As ‘Pastor Tiger’ Allegedly Molested 15-Year-Old Male Student, Possibly Others
Charles Aguon II taught multiple classes and coached the school’s football team before his arrest. He reportedly referred to his alleged molestation as “loving on” the child.
A headmaster at a private Christian school in Florida was arrested this week for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old boy.
Authorities took Charles Aguon II, 32, into custody on Tuesday on two counts of lewd molestation of a victim between 12 and 16 years old, one day after allegations against Aguon were first reported, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release. A young male student told investigators that Aguon, headmaster at Kingdom Preparatory School in Auburndale, had touched his penis on multiple occasions, according to the release.
Aguon, known on the school website as “Pastor Tiger,” is an ordained minister, pastor, and football coach who also teaches 7th and 8th grade classes, the office said. Law enforcement officials believe that he used his position of authority to victimize one male student, and possibly other children.
“While Pastor Tiger (Aguon) was a role model he was grooming this boy and touching him in an inappropriate [manner]. We are significantly concerned and curious to know if there are any other victims. We want the parents and grandparents to speak with their children, ask them questions,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Authorities said that Aguon admitted to behaving inappropriately and said that he should not have done those things.
The sheriff's office announced Aguon’s arrest during a press conference on Wednesday, with Judd stating that Aguon had been grooming “at least one child,” and possibly others. He also commented on Aguon’s widely-used nickname.
“That’s convenient — Pastor Tiger,” Judd said. “If you have a name like that, maybe it makes it easier to groom children and that’s what happened to our 15-year-old victim who was a student at the school. He was being groomed by Pastor Tiger. And it went from just grooming to kissing, to kissing on the mouth, to biting lips, to simulated sex with their clothes on, to where he actually fondled and molested this 15-year-old.”
Excerpts of a conversation between Aguon and his alleged victim show that the child tried to tell the headmaster that his inappropriate actions made him uncomfortable. Authorities say that Aguon then said, “Oh, the loving on you?” When the child said that he did not like it when Aguon kissed him and otherwise touched him inappropriately, Aguon then claimed that he was only “messing” with him before eventually apologizing, according to the release.
“We are absolutely mortified by his conduct,” Judd said during the conference.
Aguon lived with three other teachers from the school, Judd said. He went on to question how Aguon’s conduct could apparently go unnoticed by so many, and stated that the sheriff's office will be interviewing every teacher at the school. He also pointed to the school’s slogan — its mission to become “the most loving school in the world” — as containing a “subliminal message.”
Aguon is currently being held without bail as he awaits his first court appearance, according to the sheriff’s office.
The school has yet to issue any public statements on the scandal, and their social media accounts have all been set to private in the wake of the scandal.
