'90 Day Fiancé’ Star Arrested For Domestic Battery After Disturbing Instagram Behavior
Larissa Dos Santos Lima changed her Instagram username to “@helpmeimwithoutphone,” and posted messages prompting concern for her well-being. They also led to her arrest.
“90 Day Fiancé” star Larissa Dos Santos Lima was arrested for domestic battery over the weekend, after a series of disturbing Instagram posts left fans alarmed.
Dos Santos Lima, whose relationship with partner Colt Johnson has been featured on the current season of the TLC show, was taken into custody in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, with bail set at $1,000, Us Weekly reports. She is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday.
Dos Santos Lima’s arrest came after a display of disturbing social media activity for the reality TV star. She changed her Instagram username to “@helpmeimwithoutphone,” and edited her bio to read, “HE TURNED OFF HIDE MY PHONE HELP ME HE WANTS TO CALL THE POLICE HELP ME.” She also posted her phone number. Her account has since been set to private.
Johnson addressed his wife’s behavior in his Instagram Story; he later deleted the posts, but not before fans were able to screenshot his explanation.
“Larissa was arrested this afternoon. She suffers from high anxiety and several [sic] depression. She over reacted to problems that do not exist,” he wrote.
Johnson said that he “deactivated” Dos Santos Lima’s phone in an effort to defuse the situation, but things then “escalated and matters became worse.” Dos Santos Lima saw his actions as a “threat,” he wrote; she then “tried to reach out for help.”
“Not long after her cry was posted, the police came and knocked down the front door. They drew their guns at me and handcuffed me,” Johnson wrote. “The police interviewed us but not long after they decided to arrest Larissa. No one was hurt and I did not press charges against my wife. However it is policy in the state of Nevada that since we are in a domestic partnership, someone had to be arrested.”
Johnson and Lima seem to have a tumultuous relationship. Newsweek reports that Lima posted a number of Instagram videos on Saturday referencing her relationship with Johnson and stating that she did not want to “lie” anymore. She also showed fans a toppled shelf that she claimed Johnson had thrown in anger, according to the outlet.
Johnson, a Las Vegas resident, and Dos Santos Lima, who’s from Brazil, reportedly first met online before meeting in person in Mexico. The couple got engaged just days after their first physical meeting, People reports.
Saturday’s incident marks the second time Dos Santos Lima has been arrested for domestic violence, according to court documents obtained by E! News. Her first arrest reportedly occurred earlier this year but those charges were ultimately dropped, the outlet reports.
