Convicted Sex Offender Allegedly Murdered Girlfriend, Father Figure, Other Man In Killing Spree
Winborne Beale IV is charged with second degree murder in the deaths of his girlfriend, Czavi’er Hill, Clifton Baxter and Downing D. Mclean in the Virginia Beach area. Their bodies were all found in a 5-day period.
A convicted sex offender has been arrested after a killing spree that left three people dead, including his girlfriend and a reported father figure.
Winborne Beale IV, 30, was arrested “without incident” and charged with three murders in the Virginia Beach area, the U.S. Marshals stated in a Thursday press release.
The arrest came after the U.S. Marshals offered a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to Beale’s capture.
He has been charged with second-degree murder for all three deaths, that of his girlfriend, a father figure and another man.
Police told the Virginian-Pilot that Beale allegedly shot his girlfriend, 31-year-old Czavi’er Hill, to death. Her body was found Thursday in a Virginia Beach home after firefighters put out a blaze. Hill was a minister and a brand strategist, according to her website.
Neighbors told the Virginian-Pilot that 73-year-old Clifton Baxter, another victim, was Beale’s father but the outlet reports that, though they had a father-son relationships, the two may have been not biologically related. Baxter's body was discovered on Friday in Virginia Beach during a welfare check. He had also been shot to death.
The third victim is 32-year-old Downing D. Mclean, of Virginia Beach. His body was found Monday in a Norfolk home, according to the Virginian-Pilot. He had also suffered a gunshot wound. It’s not clear how Beal knew Mclean.
Beale had been placed on Virginia’s registered sex offender list in 2018 after his conviction for a sexual battery of a minor conviction. The incident for which he was convicted occured in 2005; the child victim was younger than 13 years old, WTKR reports.
The Virginian-Pilot noted that Beale's listed address on the registry is the home where Baxter was found dead.
Beale had also served time for 2012 convictions for armed robbery, conspiracy and use of a firearm by a felony, WTKR reports.
It’s not clear if Beale has an attorney.
