Pretty Ricky's Spectacular Blue Smith Allegedly Assaulted Disney World Employee Who Didn't Find His Coronavirus Joke Funny
Spectacular Blue Smith's joke about the COVID-19 pandemic led to a park employee kicking him off a line, according to authorities. The confrontation then allegedly turned physical.
Spectacular Blue Smith of Pretty Ricky was arrested earlier this week after allegedly assaulting an employee at Walt Disney World and making a joke about the coronavirus pandemic.
Smith, 35, was visiting the Animal Kingdom area of the Orlando, Florida park on Monday evening when the altercation occurred, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Oxygen.com. He allegedly walked past a Disney employee and pretended to sneeze, and then said, “coronavirus,” police said. The employee said that his joke wasn't funny, to which Smith reportedly responded, “I thought it was.”
The employee then responded with, “Then you'll think it's hilarious if I asked you to step out of the line.” An argument then broke out after Smith allegedly refused to step out of line; when the employee held out his arm to stop Smith from entering, the confrontation eventually turned physical and Smith is alleged to have punched the unnamed man on the right side of his jaw and his right temple, police said.
The employee said that the assault caused him to fall, and he told police that he believes he was in shock and may have lost consciousness for a period of time, the affidavit states. He was then transported to Horizon West Hospital, where doctors performed at CT scan and diagnosed him with a concussion, as well as a contusion and bruising to the head.
The altercation was witnessed by others in line who said that they saw the argument and witnessed Smith assaulting the employee, the affidavit states. However, Smith’s son allegedly told police that his father lost his balance while trying to get past the employee and struck him by accident as he was falling.
Smith was charged with misdemeanor battery, police said. However, he has since been released after posting $500 bond, WESH reports.
Following the incident, Smith seemingly addressed his arrest in a post on his Instagram Stories, USA Today reports.
“The media will put out a one-sided story even without facts, because they enjoy demonizing our culture and bring us down. It's sad” the post, which has since expired, reportedly read. “There's 2 sides to every story and since this story is bigger than me and the color of my skin, I'll wait till my attorney gives the green light. Thanks for your support. Love... Ps: Y'all know my character.”
Smith, an entrepreneur and author, is also known by many as a member of the R&B group Pretty Ricky, who had numerous hits in the 2000s, as well as being a cast member and guest star on the reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” in recent years. He is the founder of the Spectacular Academy, a entrepreneurship program, in addition to being the CEO of his own social media management company, Adwizar.
