Lori Vallow Daybell was found not competent to stand trial in June, but a judge is seeking more information about the woman accused of killing her children and others.
“I don’t know why they would be there,” Chad Daybell's daughter said of the discovery of Lori Vallow's two children buried on his property. “But I do know that if he were to commit a crime, he wouldn’t be foolish enough to put the evidence in his own backyard.”
Lori Vallow's attorney, Mark Means, has filed a request to move the trial outside of Fremont County — where both children's bodies were discovered in June of 2020 — because he said it would be impossible to find a "fair and impartial jury" in the community.
Investigators said that Lori Vallow's brother Alex Cox took 43 minutes to call 911 after killing Charles Vallow in 2019 and that Lori took off after the shooting to go to Burger King and Walgreens, according to recently released court documents.
Prosecutors allege that Lori Vallow “agreed” with her brother Alex Cox that “at least one of them” would kill Charles Vallow before he was found shot to death in Lori’s home on July 11, 2019.
A judge last month ordered a stay in the case against Lori Vallow, who's accused in the murders of her children Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, so the mother can undergo a treatment plan to restore her competency.
The decision to stay the proceedings comes after a psychological assessment of Lori Vallow determined that "at this time the Defendant is not competent to proceed, and recommends restorative treatment,” according to the court order.
“YOU WILL ALL HAVE JUSTICE!,” Lori Vallow’s adult son, Colby Ryan, vowed on social media Tuesday alongside a smiling photo of his slain siblings and stepfather.
