Pittsburgh police were called to the Homewood South area of the city around 4 a.m. responding to reports of shots fired, the Pittsburgh Police stated in a press release.
“When […] officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the head,” they noted. “SWAT was called and their search of the home found two other victims.”
A possible motive behind the murders has not been disclosed. Police have not named any suspects or persons of interest. The investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
In a tragic twist, Fitzgerald had recently lost another one of her four sons in June of 2021, according to a Fundraiser she created on GoFundMe. On it, she wrote that last June she traveled to Harrisburg to Hersey Park for one of her son’s birthdays when her son Norez drowned.
“However, before we got to experience the fun our trip was canceled short right after my 6 year old sons life was taken from drowning in a hotel pool,” she stated. “I’ll never be the same after what i witnessed.”
In the wake of her killing, a new GoFundMe has now been set up to support her surviving children. It states that "Nandi was an amazing mom who loved her boys more than anything.”
"She was an amazing daughter, sister and friend. Her smile was priceless,” the fundraiser states. “She has two surviving children, a 6 year old son and a 1 year son that are left without their mom and big brother. This year has been absolutely devastating for our family."
