Father Of Woman Dumped Outside An LA Hospital Wants Suspects Charged With Murder
The father of Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola is calling for murder charges now that the deaths of her and friend Christy Giles have been ruled homicides.
The grieving father of an interior designer who died after she was dumped outside a Los Angeles-area hospital after a potentially being drugged during a night of partying last year wants the three suspects in her death charged with murder.
Luis Cabrales Rivera, the father of Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, told the U.S. Sun that he hopes the Los Angeles district attorney will “listen to his heart.”
“We want those people to spend the rest of their lives in prison and that they can’t hurt anyone ever again,” he told the outlet.
Cabrales-Arzola, 26, and her friend model Christy Giles, 24, were left at separate hospitals by three masked men in a black Toyota Prius with no license plate on Nov. 13.
Giles was unconscious and died on the same night. Cabrales-Arzola died on Nov. 24, shortly before her 27th birthday, after spending several days on life support.
In December, three men were taken into custody. David Pearce, 37, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. Brandt Osborn, 42, and Michael Ansbach, 47, were arrested on suspicion of accessory to manslaughter.
Last week, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said both women died of “multiple drug intoxication,” ruling their deaths homicides.
Giles had several drugs in her system including cocaine, fentanyl, and ketamine. Tests also revealed that the date rape drug GHB – or gamma-hydroxybutyrate – was also in her system.
Cabrales-Arzola also died of organ failure, but cocaine and MDMA, more commonly referred to as ecstasy, was in her system. Some of the other drugs discovered have not been identified.
Her father told the Sun that hearing that autopsy news “reopened our wounds.”
“Every update we get makes us remember what happened to our girl and makes us very sad,” Rivera said. “But now we have hope that finally charges will be presented for homicide and these people can be put behind bars and they will get what they deserve.”
He added: “I imagine that the district attorney, with this ruling of homicide and death by drugs, will now have enough evidence to be able to accuse those men.”
“We want the district attorney to listen to his heart and bring the charges as soon as possible to get these people off the street,” Rivera said from his hometown of Monterrey, Mexico. “What they did is indescribable, they hurt so many people who loved Christy and our daughter.”
Jan Cillers, Giles’ husband, told the publication earlier this week that he expects to find out if the women were sexually assaulted in a few weeks, once the tests results come back.
Cillers also wants the men to face murder charges.
“Our hearts are broken, a part of our hearts died when she left but we have to be strong for her,” Rivera said. “I promised my daughter Hilda to be strong and not cry so she is not worried about us. She is still us and has never left.”
Osborn and Ansbach were released on bond.
Pearce remains behind bars on a $3.4 million bond on separate charges in connection with alleged sexual assaults of four other women. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
