Oklahoma Woman, 80, Disappears While Searching For Her Missing Son And His Friend
Glenda “Cookie” Parton disappeared Monday while searching for her son in Turley, Oklahoma shortly after detectives say she was captured on surveillance footage at a local store with an unknown man.
Authorities are trying to locate a missing 80-year-old Oklahoma woman who disappeared while searching for her own missing son and his friend.
Glenda “Cookie” Parton, 80, disappeared Monday evening. She was last seen at a local business with an unknown man in Turley.
Her car, a red Kia Rio, was found abandoned Tuesday along Highway 75, according to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
Parton’s disappearance isn’t the only baffling missing persons case the department has received in recent days.
Authorities say at the time she disappeared, Parton was looking for her own missing son, 59-year-old Dwayne Selby.
Selby vanished on Friday along with his friend 76-year-old Jack Grimes. The pair had planned to head to a horse show in Fort Worth, Texas but they never arrived or contacted their family, reported local station KOKI-TV.
“Family members say Jack always calls them to let them know when he arrives at a horse show,” the sheriff’s office said. “He never called them to let them know he had arrived in Fort Worth.”
The men were seen on surveillance footage at a restaurant in Purcell before they disappeared.
The pair were scheduled to return from the trip on Monday but never came home. They had been traveling in Grimes' 2001 4-door Ford Taurus with license plate ETW-614 when they disappeared. Authorities have issued a silver alert for both men.
In the midst of the search to find the pair, Parton disappeared herself.
Detectives obtained video of Parton on Monday night at a local store “just before she disappeared” that showed her with an unknown man that detectives are hoping to identify and question, authorities said.
The man, seen in surveillance images released by the department, is described as having dark hair and was wearing a baseball cap, gray jacket, blue jeans and dark colored shoes.
Oxygen.com reached out to the sheriff’s office but did not receive an immediate response.
Anyone with any information about either missing persons case is urged to contact the sheriff’s office.
