'There Might Be Foul Play' In Las Vegas Hotel Death Of Comedian Donny Davis, Authorities Say
Donny Davis worked alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Britney Spears and Chelsea Handler.
The possibility of foul foul play is being considered in the death of a comedian who was found in a Las Vegas hotel room, according to police.
Donny Davis, 43, was found unresponsive last Tuesday at the Las Vegas Resorts World hotel, according to Fox 5 Las Vegas. Davis was transported to Sunrise Hospital and died just minutes later.
A death investigation report from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department cited the Clark County Fire Department, who “advised they thought there might be foul play due to the number of other subjects in the room and having trouble getting any information from them,” as per the outlet.
Davis spent much of the evening with a group of people at the Dawg House bar, located inside the hotel. At one point, he left to meet with someone at Flamingo and returned at about 2:30 a.m., according to Fox 5. A bartender refused Davis service, noting the patron had been overserved.
Davis was with a friend and three other women, according to a witness report cited by NBC affiliate Las Vegas 3 News.
Davis and his friend returned to the hotel room at about 3:30 a.m.
The friend reportedly returned to the bar to collect his phone, which he had left as collateral, 3 News reports. He and another woman returned to the room at around 5:00 a.m. to find Davis sitting up in a chair. They stated his hands “looked pale instead of his normal light brown color,” according to the investigative report.
Witnesses later reported that Davis’s hands were purple, and he didn’t appear to be breathing. One said his hands were “freezing,” and his jaw appeared “frozen shut.”
Hotel security was called to the Conrad Hotel, part of Resorts World, at around 5:30 a.m., finding Davis “in the room turning blue and biting his tongue,” according to a report obtained by People. Security performed chest compressions before the Clark County Fire Department arrived on the scene.
Davis was taken to the hospital around 6:15 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 6:36 a.m., according to Fox 5.
A cause and manner of death have not been released. According to ABC News, the Clark County coroner’s office expects a toxicology report in several weeks.
Davis spent his career as an impersonator, rubbing elbows and performing alongside A-list celebrities such as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Chelsea Handler. According to TMZ, Davis was hired as a dancer for Spears’ 2013 residency show in Las Vegas and regularly appeared as a guest on “Chelsea Lately.”
For two decades, the four-foot-two comedian was a fixture at Beacher’s Madhouse, a Vaudeville-inspired club located at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“Donny broke barriers in the little people community and was an inspiration to his peers,” the club’s owner, Jeff Beacher, told TMZ. “He will be missed terribly, but his legacy and the impact he had on those who loved him will live on forever.”
Celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Perez Hilton, and Ryan Phillippe, took to social media to express their sadness over Davis’s passing.
