Woman Accused Of Cracking Her Mom's Skull With Crucifix During Fight
Christian Lydia Martinez allegedly behaved in a very un-Christian manner Sunday.
A Texas woman named Christian is accused of doing something very un-Christian like –– drunkenly attacking her mother with a crucifix leaving her with a cracked skull.
The alleged incident occurred on Sunday during an argument between mother and daughter.
Christian Lydia Martinez, 25 allegedly showed up at her mother’s home in San Antonio drunk and combative, according to an affidavit report obtained by Fox San Antonio.
During a subsequent argument, she allegedly grabbed a bulky, wooden 10-inch crucifix off the wall of the home, according to Fox San Antonio. It’s about a half inch thick, according to Telemundo San Antonio.
Then, she allegedly used the cross to hit her mom on the top of her head repeatedly as well as in a stabbing motion.
The mother, who has not been named, began bleeding from the head as a result of the attack. Martinez allegedly fled the home when she noticed the blood gushing from her mom’s head, according to Telemundo. Hours later, she was found by police and arrested.
The mother was taken to a hospital for treatment where doctors determined her skull was fractured. She is expected to make a full recovery.
Despite the use of a crucifix as a weapon, it is not believed that the alleged attack had any religious motive, according to Fox San Antonio. Rather, it appears that Martinez allegedly used whatever was available and in close proximity to her during her heated argument with her mother.
Martinez now faces aggravated assault charges. She’s being held on a $30,000 bond. It’s not clear if Martinez has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf at this time.
