Florida Man Allegedly Took Ex Captive, Then Raped Her For Days While Ranting About Black Man
After his ex-girlfriend mentioned that she had slept with a Black man, Charles Tanner allegedly got violent with her and then held her captive for days while sexually abusing her .
A Florida man allegedly held his ex-girlfriend captive for five days, while starving, raping and torturing her, before she managed to escape and beg a neighbor for help.
The woman showed up at a Brevard County home near where she was allegedly held captive in the middle of the night on June 8 to ask for help, according to an affidavit obtained by the New York Post.
She alleged that her ex-boyfriend Charles Tanner, 51, had been holding her captive for days, all while raping, starving and torturing her. He allegedly whipped her with an electrical cord and threatened her life with a knife to her face. He also allegedly sexually abused her with inanimate objects while she was unconscious, and then sent photos of the horrific acts to her friends on Facebook. Brevard County Sheriff deputies were able to retrieve some of those images, according to the affidavit.
Tanner and the woman had broken up in May and, right before the alleged ordeal, the two had engaged in consensual sex. Shortly after, Tanner allegedly became irate because the victim told him that she'd had a sexual encounter with a Black man while they were still in a relationship, according to the affidavit.
Tanner then allegedly went on a racist tirade and kicked her in the head.
"Over the next several days the defendant would beat [the victim] with a closed fist and berate her about being unfaithful [...] with a [racial slur],” the affidavit states.
During the days of alleged abuse, Tanner allegedly used methamphetamine repeatedly. The woman told investigators that she was eventually able to get away while Tanner was asleep.
Tanner was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual battery, aggravated battery, felony battery, false imprisonment, aggravated assault and sexual cyberharassment. He is being held without bond.
It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
This isn’t the first time that Tanner has been accused of holding a woman against her will. He was arrested in 2013 after a woman ran naked from his home, claiming she had just escaped after a sexual assault, ClickOrlando reports.
