“General Hospital” actress Lindsey Pearlman has been found dead days after she was reported missing by her family.
Pearlman, 43, was found in a vehicle Friday near an entrance to hiking trails in Hollywood, according to NBC News.
The actress—who has appeared in “General Hospital,” “American Housewife,” “Empire” and “Chicago Justice”—was reported missing Feb. 13 after she “failed to return home,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
In the initial missing persons bulletin, police said that friends and family had feared for the 43-year-old’s safety.
She was discovered around 8:30 a.m. Friday after Hollywood area officers responded to a call about a death investigation at Franklin Avenue and North Sierra Bonita Avenue.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office positively identified the body as Pearlman.
Although an autopsy has been completed, the cause and manner of death have not been confirmed and are pending further investigation, according to People.
The date of her death was listed as Friday, the same day the body was discovered.
Pearlman’s cousin, Savannah Pearlman, confirmed the death in a thread on Twitter.
“I’m deeply sad to report that they have found Lindsey, and it was too late,” she wrote, describing her cousin as a “fierce animal advocate and a talented actress.”
In another message, she said that Pearlman’s sister had asked that she share the National Suicide Hotline.
“Please know that you are never truly alone,” Savannah wrote.
Tributes to the actress poured in on social media as news of her death spread.
“Lindsey Pearlman was terrific on @GeneralHospital and we are saddened to hear of this tragedy. Our hearts go out to her family and friends,” General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini wrote on Twitter.
Actress Lynn Chen posted a photo of Pearlman petting a dog.
“This is how I will remember Lindsey Pearlman. Effortlessly beautiful and talented. Hilarious. Compassionate. Unapologetic. She lit up every room,” she wrote. “She listened intently on stage and off. She so loved animals. I am sorry to her family and all the communities who deeply adored her.”
Pearlman moved to Los Angeles from Chicago, according to her personal website. She had been a graduate of The Second City Conservatory.
Her family has asked for privacy as they mourn her death.
“We are deeply saddened by Lindsey Pearlman’s passing today,” her agent Michael Chiaverini said in a written statement obtained by NBC News. “The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time while they process and grieve.”
