Ioannis "John" Makris was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder for hire of his fiancée, Laura Grillo. On Nov. 13, 2015, Grillo was gunned down in the living room of her own by a man Makris had hired to kill her.
