Ohio Man Escapes Jail By Slipping Out Of Handcuffs, Running Through Garage (Video)
Police are still searching for James Hlavsa, after he managed to wriggle out of his handcuffs and flee from the police station.
The search is on. Ohio police are trying to find a suspect who escaped from their custody last weekend by slipping out of his handcuffs and running out of the jail.
James Hlavsa, 31, and two other men were arrested on Sunday afternoon after they were caught shoplifting from a Home Depot in the Brooklyn, Ohio area. After being taken into custody and transported to the local jail, Hlavsa was cuffed to a bench to await bond; he remained seated in the booking area for roughly an hour before he managed to slip his wrists out of the cuffs. He ran out of the jail 20 minutes later, Cleveland.com reports, and escaped through the building's garage.
Police are still searching for Hlavsa, who authorities say has multiple active warrants for contempt of court, larceny, and failure to appear, ABC reports.
Hlvasa's unexpected escape was captured by a surveillance camera mounted in the corner of the room. Check it out below.
