Aries: Happy Face Killer

As the first sign in the zodiac, Aries love being the center of attention, and serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson is no exception. When a woman falsely confessed to killing Jesperson's first victim along with the help of her abusive boyfriend, Jesperson became furious. To garner his own media coverage, Jesperson started writing letters to news outlets and prosecutors that took responsibility for the crime. He signed all of his letters with a smiley face, earning him the nickname "Happy Face Killer." Jesperson ultimately killed at least eight women before his capture in 1995, and he is currently incarcerated at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. Recently, Jesperson's daughter Melissa Moore has opened up about her experiences and reached out to other relatives of serial killers. According to ABC News, Moore has spoken with more than 100 people related to mass murderers, including the BTK Killer's daughter and family of the Boston Strangler.
Other notorious Aries serial killers include Paul Knowles ("The Casanova Killer"), Charles Sobhraj ("The Bikini Killer") and John Reginald Christie ("The Rillington Place Strangler").
Taurus: H.H. Holmes
Persistent and diligent, people born under the sign of Taurus are known for accomplishing lofty goals. Serial killer H.H. Holmes embodied those exact traits when he built a massive, multi-level residential and commercial building that was later dubbed the "Murder Castle." Holmes constructed the mixed-use property in anticipation of the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, Illinois, later adding a third floor to be used as a hotel. During its construction, Holmes would often fire and hire people at random so no one would find out what he was creating — a torture chamber filled with trap doors, hidden rooms, secret stairways and an underground crematory. Many of Holmes' victims were lured back to the property before he trapped, assaulted and murdered them in the building's basement. Holmes is believed to have killed at least nine victims, but after his arrest, he confessed to many more. In 1896, he was hanged at the Philadelphia County Prison.
Other Taurus serial killers include Albert Fish, Martha Beck ("The Lonely Hearts Killer") and Earle Nelson ("The Gorilla Man").
Gemini: Jeffrey Dahmer
Symbolized by the twins, Gemini are often described as being two-faced people who are skilled at lying, but others think they're the most misunderstood sign in the zodiac. Either way, serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer was an expert at convincing everyone around him that he was a "kind" and "sensitive" person, and many couldn't believe he was the one responsible for murdering, raping and dismembering 17 boys and men. Dubbed "The Milwaukee Cannibal," Dahmer also admitted that his murders escalated to consuming his victims' flesh. In 1993, he told "Inside Edition," "I was branching out, that's when the cannibalism started, eating of the heart and the arm muscle. It was a way of making me feel that they were a part of me. At first it was just curiosity, and then it became compulsive." While imprisoned at the Columbia Correctional Institute in Madison, Wisconsin, Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate on November 28, 1994.
Other serial killers born under the Gemini sign include Danny Rolling ("The Gainesville Ripper"), David Berkowitz ("Son of Sam") and Robert Lee Yates.
Cancer: Carl Panzram
Cancers are known for being sensitive and emotional, and because of those traits, they can hold on to a grudge longer than most zodiac signs. Serial killer Carl Panzram waited years to get his revenge on then-Secretary of War William Howard Taft, who approved Panzram's prison sentence for larceny when he was enlisted in the US Army. After his release from the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Panzram went on a crime spree across the country, and in August 1920, he made his way to New Haven, Connecticut. There, he burglarized the home of former president Taft, whom he never forgave for imprisoning him. According to the Hartford Courant, Panzram stole bonds, $3,000 in cash, jewelry and a .45-caliber automatic handgun. He kept the gun and used it in multiple murders, and he was ultimately captured in 1928. He was sentenced to 25 years in the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary, but after murdering a prison laundry employee, he was sentenced to death. Panzram claimed to have killed more than 20 people and sodomized at least 1,000 boys and men. He was hanged September 5, 1930.
Other Cancer serial killers include Genene Jones and Robert Maudsley.
Leo: Cleveland Strangler
[Photo: Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office/Getty Images]
Represented by the lion, people born under the Leo sign are fiercely loyal, but their devotion can sometimes verge on posessive and dominating. Anthony Sowell, the serial killer known as the Cleveland Strangler, bound, gagged and strangled his first victim when she tried to leave his apartment. After he assaulted her, the woman, who was three months pregnant at the time, was able to flee his apartment through a window and flag down neighbors for help. Sowell was convicted a year later for attempted rape, and he was released early from his 15-year sentence in 2005. He went on to murder 11 women before his capture in 2009. When police searched his home, they found several bodies buried in crawl spaces as well as the basement and backyard. Two decomposing bodies were also found on the living room floor. According to the coroner, the majority of the victims were strangled. On August 12, 2011, he was sentenced to death. Sowell is currently sitting on death row at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution.
Other Leo serial killers include John Haigh ("The Acid Bath Killer") and Myra Hindley ("The Moors Murderer").
Virgo: Ed Gein
Virgos are some of the most crafty people you will ever meet: When authorities searched the home of serial killer Ed Gein, they discovered he had executed several DIY projects with human remains. Police were initially called to Gein's farmhouse in November 1957 to investigate the disappearance of local hardware store owner Bernice Worden. On the morning of the 16th, Gein had robbed the store and murdered Worden, whose body was found hung upside-down and gutted on his property. Along with Worden's body, investigators uncovered furniture and fashion accessories — including lamps, masks, corsets, leggings and belts — had been constructed with human flesh and bones. While in custody, Gein confessed to robbing several graves to obtain the remains he used in his creations. He also admitted to murdering tavern owner Mary Hogan in 1954. In 1958, Gein was found to be legally insane, and he was sent to the Mendota State Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Gein died from lung cancer on July 26, 1984.
Other notorious serial killers born under the Virgo sign include Albert DeSalvo ("The Boston Strangler"), Henry Lee Lucas and Richard Angelo ("The Angel of Death).
Libra: Hillside Strangler
Personified by the scales, Libras are all about balance, but they can sometimes be controlling, sneaky and manipulative in order to get what they want. Angelo Anthony Buono Jr., later identified as The Hillside Strangler, would stop women while posing as an undercover police officer with his cousin Kenneth Bianchi. Using fake badges, they would lure the women into Buono's car, saying it was an unmarked police vehicle, and then drive them to Buono's house to torture and kill them. In less than a year, the two claimed 10 victims, all female, ranging in age from 12 to 28. According to The Associated Press, Bianchi had hopes of becoming a police officer and took part in several ride-alongs with the Los Angeles Police Department. One LAPD sergeant said that during a ride, Bianchi "discussed the series of strangulation murders and said Bianchi expressed a desire to be shown the sites where the bodies had been found." Bianchi later dropped out of the LAPD program and moved to Washington, where he worked as a security guard. Shortly after arriving in Washington, Bianchi was arrested for the murder of two college students from Western Washington University and was implicated in the Hillside Strangler killings. He then confessed to the Los Angeles murders and identified Buono as his accomplice. Bianci was given five life sentences for murder and an additional life sentence for conspiracy. He is currently imprisoned at the Washington State Penitentiary. Bianci testified at Buono's trial, and Buono was convicted of nine murders and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He died in 2002.
Other notorious Libra serial killers include Carlton Gary ("The Stocking Strangler"), Patrick Kearney ("The Freeway Killer") and Andrei Chikatilo ("The Butcher of Rostov").
Scorpio: Charles Manson
Scorpios are one of the most stigmatized signs in the entire zodiac, and they're often depicted as clever, cunning and manipulative. Though criminal and cult leader Charles Manson didn't physically murder anyone, he convinced his loyal group of followers — later dubbed the "Manson Family" — to carry out nine brutal murders under his guidance. In July and August of 1969, Manson ordered the murders of Gary Hinman, actress Sharon Tate (who was eight months pregnant at the time), Steven Parent, Jay Sebring, Voytek Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Donald “Shorty” Shea, Leno LaBianca and Rosemary LaBianca. Manson believed the killings would start a race war, which he called "Helter Skelter," a phrase taken from a Beatles' song of the same name. After police raided the Manson Family ranch, a former movie set for Western films located in the San Fernando Valley, Manson was charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. In 1971, he was sentenced to death, but following California's outlaw of the death penalty, Manson was resentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. While incarcerated, Manson died on November 19, 2017 at 83 years old of natural causes.
Other murderers born under the Scorpio sign include Leonard Lake, Nannie Doss ("The Giggling Nanny") and Derrick Todd Lee ("The Baton Rouge Serial Killer").
Sagittarius: Ted Bundy
Intellectual and adventurous, people born under the sign of Sagittarius are known for their strong personalities. They are also, however, prone to being overconfident. Sagitarrius Ted Bundy has been described as one of the most cocky serial killers in history, and his own ego is what ended up giving detectives their first lead. Investigative journalist Kevin Sullivan told "Snapped: Notorious Ted Bundy" that Bundy was "convinced that no matter what he did, he would escape law enforcement." But while abducting women in 1974 at Lake Sammamish in Issaquah, Washington, Bundy was so brash that he "identified himself as 'Ted' not just to the women that he abducted, but to those around them who would hear the conversation," explained Sullivan. A witness at the lake that day also saw a car that was later associated with Bundy — a tan Volkswagen bug. Because of his brazen behavior at the lake, authorities were able to figure out his name, the type of car he drove and what he looked like. After police created a composite sketch of the suspect, "thousands and thousands" of tips came in, and four people close to Bundy reported him to police as the possible suspect. Though he wouldn't be captured until 1978, some believe Bundy could have stayed under police radar if he had been more careful during his abductions. In 1979, Bundy was sentenced to death and executed on January 24, 1989.
Other Sagittarius serial killers include Ed Kemper, Dennis Nilsen and Raymond Fernandez.
Capricorn: Charles Ng

Though Capricorns are known for being ambitious and disciplined, they can also be extremely detached and self-centered. During the torture of one of his victims with the help of accomplice Leonard Lake, serial killer Charles Ng said, "You can cry and stuff like the rest of them, but it won't do you no good. We are pretty, ha ha, coldhearted, so to speak." Ng was convicted of killing 11 people — while the total amount of victims is believed to be up to 25 — after raping and torturing them at Lake's cabin in Calaveras County, California. According to "Inside Edition," Ng admitted to using drills, pliers and other tools to abuse his victims inside a "sex-slave dungeon" built near the cabin. In 1985, police were led to the cabin following the capture of Lake, who had been arrested for a San Francisco shoplifting incident. Authorities found "mass graves containing hacked and burned bodies" at the property, and when they questioned Lake about the discovery, he committed suicide by swallowing cyanide pills. Ng fled to Canada and avoided his extradition for six years, but he was brought back to the US in 1991. Eight years later, he was found guilty of 11 murders and sentenced to death. According to The Los Angeles Times, Ng is currently sitting on death row at San Quentin State Prison.
Other serial killers born under the sign of Capricorn include Dean Corll ("The Candyman"), Ian Brady ("The Moors Murderer") and Joe Ball ("The Alligator Man").
Aquarius: Gary Ridgeway
Symbolized by the water bearer, people born under the sign of Aquarius are known for being intelligent and inventive, but they can also be characterized as detached extremists. "Green River Killer" Gary Ridgway was "fanatical" about religion, and he would apparently cry while attending church sermons or reading the Bible. Despite his staunch beliefs, Ridgway would solicit sex workers and often pressure his partners to have sex several times a day, usually outside or in the woods. At the same time, Ridgway complained about the sex work going on in his neighborhood, which led the local police department to implement more patrols of the area. He told police he was so obsessed with sex workers that they affected him "as strongly as alcohol does an alcoholic." Ridgway's fascinations soon became his murder targets, with the majority of his victims being sex workers. Ridgway later admitted to picking up women and strangling them before disposing of their bodies in remote wooded areas, including Washington State's Green River. Sometimes, he would return to the dumpsites and have sex with the corpses. In 2001, Ridgway was arrested for several of the Green River killings, and he later confessed to killing 71 women. He was convicted of 49 murders and was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. He is currently incarcerated at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla.
Other Aquarius serial killers include Joel Rifkin ("Joel the Ripper"), Robert Hansen ("The Butcher Baker") and Jerry Brudos ("The Lust Killer").
Pisces: John Wayne Gacy
Imaginative and sensitive, Pisces can sometimes be prone to being weak-willed and lazy. John Wayne Gacy Jr. was another serial killer who could not control his homicidal urges, and between 1972 and 1978, he sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered at least 33 boys and young men. Gacy would often lure the young men to his house for sex, and then Gacy would trick them into allowing him to tie them up with a rope and stick as a form of bondage. Then, Gacy would murder them. All of Gacy's victims had been strangled aside from his first victim, whom he had stabbed to death. According to The New York Times, all of the young men except for six were found buried beneath his house in Cook County, Illinois. Many were shocked when Gacy was arrested in 1978. A multifaceted businessman, Gacy has also volunteered as a children's entertainer by dressing up as "Pogo the Clown." He had a very disarming personality and was described as "popular" and "well-liked." But shortly after his capture, Gacy confessed to the 33 slayings and was found guilty. In 1994, he was put to death by lethal injection.
Other serial killers born under the Pisces sign include Richard Ramirez ("The Night Stalker"), Dennis Rader ("The BTK Killer") and Doug Clark ("The Sunset Strip Killer").
