Rapper T.I. is urging anyone with information on a missing New Jersey girl, whose mother believes she is a victim of sex trafficking, to come forward.
“FYI...Saying something if you see her ain’t gon make you a Rat lil homie. #ProtectOurGirls,” the rapper wrote in an Instagram post dedicated to Aviana Weaver, 17.
Weaver was last seen at her Mount Holly home on Sept. 12, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website. Her mother spoke to her via cellphone on Sept. 15 and the teen has not been heard from since, according to the Westampton Township Police Department.
Weaver’s mother Angelica Scarlett believes she is the victim of sex trafficking.
“We have pornography pictures and my daughter looked completely upset and unhappy in these photos,” Scarlett told New Jersey 101.5. “[Investigators] believe she is in danger being held against her will. She’s 17 and she looks upset.”
Oxygen.com's attempts to reach Scarlett and the Westampton Township Police Department were not immediately returned. Police have not confirmed that they think she is the victim of sex trafficking.
The mother told 101.5 that she doesn’t think her daughter is the type to run away, adding that she didn’t bring any clothing with her.
"It's completely out of character and scary,” she said.
Scarlett has been urging people to share images of her daughter in hopes that someone who knows something will say something.
“The streets can’t have my daughter!!” the worried and dedicated mother posted on Facebook. “I will be there everyday on the street until she is home !!! I won’t stop - Share let’s get her !!! Someone knows something !! Speak she is a minor and in danger !!”
Scarlett told 101.5 that her daughter's phone was last pinged in West Philadelphia before the phone shut off. Police believe she may still be in the Philadelphia area.
On T.I.’s post, his followers applauded the rapper for his post and for its message.
“People gotta be able to differentiate Being a RAT and Doing RIGHT,” one commenter wrote.
“Saying something if you see her might make you a hero,” another wrote.
Weaver is described as a bi-racial/Hispanic female who stands at 5’4” and weights approximately 180 pounds. She has a distinctive tattoo of a key adorned with flowers on her left chest area.
If anyone comes in contact with her, please dial 911 or the Westampton Township Police at 609-267-8300.
