Florida Mom Missing For Six Weeks Found Dead in Georgia, But Her Four Kids Are Still Missing
Casei Jones' husband Michael Waye Jones Jr. was also found in Georgia and is currently being held in connection with her death.
The body of a Florida mom missing for six weeks has been discovered, but her four young children are nowhere to be found, authorities said.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that the body of 32-year-old Casei Jones had been found near Brantley County, Georgia.
Jones had not been seen in six weeks and was officially reported missing along with her four children––Cameron Bowers, 10, Preston Bowers, 5, Mercalli Jones, 2, and Aiyana Jones, 1––on Saturday night by her concerned family.
But the case took a tragic turn when authorities found the missing mom dead.
“Detectives are continuing their investigation regarding the missing children,” the sheriff’s office said.
Casei Jones’ husband, Michael Waye Jones Jr., was also found in Georgia and is being questioned in connection with his wife’s death, authorities said.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest for second-degree homicide.
Authorities did not release any additional information about where the body was discovered, how Casei Jones may have died or how long ago authorities believe she was killed.
Casei Jones’ mother, Nikki Jones, told local station WOFL that investigators had gone to the family’s Florida home but had not been able to find any sign of the family.
“The house is empty,” she said.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in an earlier statement that they believed Casei Jones may have been driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with Florida tag 91SEJ.
Anyone with information about the case or knows where the missing children may be located is urged to contact the authorities.
