Police End Multi-State Manhunt For Man Accused Of Murdering Stepmom, Half-Brother
After Shannon Whitman and her 10-year-old son were found shot to death in their home, Jack Elijah Turner allegedly robbed a gas station and fled the state.
A multi-state manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with the killing of a mother and her 10-year-old son in Pennsylvania before embarking on a crime spree and seemingly fleeing down to Florida has ended with his capture in West Virginia.
Jack Elijah Turner, 21, has been named as a person of interest wanted in connection with a double murder, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office stated on Tuesday. Shannon Whitman, 49, and her 10-year-old son were found dead in a home in Crawford County on Saturday, August 10, Penn Live reports. The son has been identified as Darrin Whitman, according to ABC News.
Both were shot to death. Whitman was reportedly Turner's step-mom and Darrin was his half brother. Turner dd not live with the victims, ABC News reports.
Turner is accused of taking Whitman’s 2009 Lincoln MKS sedan from the home and then committing an armed robbery at a gas station in Township, Erie County.
Officials initially believed he was down in Florida, as he was reportedly seen three times there since the murderer. Turner used to live in St. Augustine before he moved to Pennsylvania.
By Wednesday afternoon, Turner was caught in Charleston, West Virginia by the United States Marshals.
A possible motive for the killings has not yet been disclosed.
