Woman Takes In Homeless Man, Then He Allegedly Tries To Have Sex With Her Underage Daughter
It was raining, so a woman gave homeless man Leonard Dale Dover shelter. Then, he allegedly propositioned her 13-year-old daughter for sex.
They say no good deed goes unpunished and for one North Carolina woman, her desire to help ended in an alleged travesty.
A woman from York County told police she brought Leonard Dale Dover, who was homeless, into her house on a rainy day. She then ran out to Walmart, leaving the 56-year-old man home with her 13-year-old daughter, according to the Charlotte Observer in Charlotte, North Carolina. During that time, Dover allegedly made sexual advances towards the child. The girl claimed that Dover offered her money for sex acts all while he allegedly performed sex acts on himself.
The victim recorded the incident on her cell phone. It’s unclear what day the incident happened but police said Dover was arrested on Friday, according to WSOC-TV in Charlotte. He has been charged with attempting to commit a lewd act with a minor.
Deputies have viewed and seized the video taken by the teen, police said. Dover’s being held without bond. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf.
This isn’t Dover’s first brush with the law in the area. He was previously convicted on drug and disorderly conduct offenses.
Earlier this year, another woman’s desire to help a homeless man allegedly turned deadly in Denver. Jeanna Leslie, a 49-year-old mother of four, was trying to help a homeless man named Terry Dunford, 40, by letting him stay inside her loft apartment. Police found Leslie’s body on Valentine’s Day after she didn’t show up to pick up her children. They had plans to do a family outing and go to a Nuggets basketball game, the Denver Post reported. Police believe Dunford stabbed her to death with kitchen knives. He’s been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
