Florida Man Allegedly Attacks Neighbor With Chainsaw During An Argument Over Shrubs
Jeffrey Zlocki needed surgery to repair a severed tendon in his hand after alleged attack by Gregory Landaker.
A dispute over shrubs separating two neighbors' property in Land O' Lakes, Florida ended with one man requiring surgery to repair severed tendons in his hand.
Gregory Landaker, 70, was trimming shrubs with a chainsaw on the property line he shares with Jeffrey Zlocki last week when things got a little choppy.
Zlocki witnessed the landscaping and ran out of his home to hug “his bushes” to keep them from being cut down, according to the sheriff’s office report obtained by WFLA in Tampa.
Landaker allegedly just kept on trimming.
His chainsaw allegedly hit Zlocki in his left hand, resulting in a deep laceration. The injury required surgery to repair severed tendons the hand, according to WFLA. He was treated at the nearby Tampa General Hospital and later released.
Zlocki told police he thought the attack was an accident and that his neighbor didn’t mean to hurt him, FOX13 in Tampa reported. Detectives, however, say video evidence shows that it does appear that the attack was intentional. The video allegedly shows Landaker getting his chainsaw and cutting the shrub while the victim holds it and shoving Zlocki in the back after striking him with his chainsaw, according to WFLA.
Police called it a “clear and deliberate act.”
Landaker was arrested on Sept. 9 for aggravated battery and simple battery and taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center. He was given a $15,000 bond for the charges according to online records. He has since been released from jail. He does not appear to have a previous arrest record.
