'Good Samaritan' Offers To Walk Woman Home, Then Allegedly Drags Her Into A Park And Rapes Her
A seeming random act of kindness turned into a nightmare after an unidentified suspect sexually assualted a 20-year-old woman in New York City.
A man posing as a "good Samaritan" offered to walk a woman home after a party Saturday morning in New York City, but instead allegedly raped her, stole her purse and left her in a park.
The apparent knight in shining armor helped the 20-year-old woman hail a cab for her drunk friend after both women were leaving a Brooklyn party at around 2:20 a.m. The man then offered to escort the young woman home safely after her friend was well on her way in the cab, according to the New York Post.
But that's where the story turned sinister. According to a statement from the New York City Police Department obtained by Oxygen.com, the suspect "grabbed the victim by the arm and dragged her into Betsy Head Park where he raped her."
The man stole the woman's purse and iPhone and fled the scene.
The victim was able to stop a passing car and ask for help, the New York Post reports. She was taken to a hospital, where she was treated.
Police are now asking the public for help to identify the suspect and have released a photo of the man they believe is responsible. He's described as a Hispanic male with long hair that may be fashioned into a ponytail, and facial hair. On the morning of the attack, he was wearing a black hooded sweater, blue and white jeans and black sneakers.
He was also carrying a black jacket with an orange lining, police said.
