Missing Mother’s Estranged Husband Flaunted Affair With His Mistress Before Wife Vanished
Missing mother of five Jennifer Dulos had fears that her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, would run off to a ski resort where Michelle Troconis had connections.
The estranged husband of a missing Connecticut mother of five reportedly flaunted his relationship with his girlfriend before his wife disappeared. Both lovers have been charged in connection with the case.
Jennifer Dulos, 50, was last seen on May 24 driving a 2017 black Chevrolet Suburban in New Canaan, an affluent area of Connecticut, according to the New Canaan Police Department. That vehicle was found the same day but with no trace of Dulos.
Blood, however, was found in several locations where two people matching the description of her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, were seen on video disposing of trash bags. Warrants show blood spatter and evidence of cleanup attempts were also found at the Jennifer Dulos' New Canaan home.
Fotis Dulos, 51, and Troconis, 44, made their first court appearances Monday after being charged Saturday night with evidence tampering and hindering prosecution. They did not enter pleas.
Jennifer filed for divorce from her husband, who operates a construction business, in 2017 after 13 years of marriage. In divorce filings, Jennifer claims Fotis and Troconis began having an affair in 2016, according to the Stamford Advocate. Jennifer said she moved out after finding out about the affair, CNN reports. She said in court filings that Troconis' presence was emotionally damaging to the five children she shared with Fotis.
In 2018, a photo of Fotis and Troconis was posted on Fotis' business blog. That same year Troconis' daughter Nicole, a ski champion, was featured in an ad campaign for Fotis' company, Fox News reports.
Troconis worked as marketing director for Cerro Castor, an Argentinian ski resort, according to the Stamford Advocate. Jennifer had worries that the ski resort, which hosted the 2012 Freestyle Skiing World Cup, would be an escape route for her estranged husband.
“[In] the past, my husband has made references to disappearing to a ski resort, ‘where everyone wears masks every day and are indistinguishable from one another,’” Jennifer wrote in the court filings. She filed an emergency order for full custody of their kids the same year she filed for divorce, the Connecticut Post reports. She also expressed fear in court paperwork that her estranged husband would kidnap their children and bring them to Greece or another country if she didn’t agree to his divorce settlement terms.
In a court filing response, Fotis said Jennifer “has done nothing but assert broad facts which are, for the most part, incorrect and unsupported.”
In March of this year, Superior Court Judge Donna Heller said Fotis Dulos "had pursued his own self-interest and exposed the children to his paramour Michelle Troconis and her daughter ... in complete disregard of the court's prior orders and the effect his actions were having on the children," Fox News reports.
Both Dulos and Troconis are in jail on $500,000 bail.
In addition to the ski resort work, Troconis worked briefly for ESPN as a producer and host and as a publicist for a sheik at the Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club in Abu Dhabi, Fox News reports.
