Former Miss Uruguay Found Dead In Hotel Room In Apparent Hanging
Investigators are still looking into whether foul play was involved in the hanging death of Fatimih Davila Sosa.
A former Miss Uruguay was found dead in the bathroom of a hotel room in Mexico City this week, prompting local officials to launch an investigation into her death.
Fatimih Davila Sosa, who was also a model and actress, was found hanging from a shower in her hotel room’s bathroom in Benito Juárez, the New York Daily News reports, citing reports from local outlets. The circumstances of her death are currently unclear, but local prosecutors have launched a homicide investigation into the hanging to determine whether she was murdered or if she committed suicide, according to the paper.
The 31-year-old former pageant winner’s Instagram page suggests that she’d been living in Mexico as she pursued a career as a model. She’d been in the Mexican capital since April 23 for work, Channel News Asia reports.
“An acquaintance helped her move into the above-mentioned hotel ahead of a job interview,” a statement from the local prosecutor’s office, obtained by the outlet, reads.
Her last Instagram post before her death was a pledge to “start the year smiling and with good vibes.”
At the age of 18, Sosa competed in the Miss Uruguay pageant in 2006 and took home the title, according to the Daily News. She competed on behalf of her country in the Miss Universe pageant that same year, according to the New York Post. She went on to compete in the Miss World pageant in 2008.
Aside from pageantry, Sosa, who was born in Punta del Este, Uruguay, studied as an actress while living in Chile and had a role in the soap opera “El Triunfo del Amor,” or “The Triumph of Love,” according to international outlet El Universal.
