Family Releases New Videos Of 5-Year-Old Who Disappeared From New Jersey Park
In the video clip, Dulce Alavez can be seen happily talking, smiling, and singing the lyrics to a song from "Frozen" in a video she recorded herself before she disappeared.
The family of missing Dulce Alavez has released new videos of the 5-year-old — showing her happily singing and smiling while taking a selfie — in the hopes that it will help in the investigation.
Alavez’s mother provided the clips through a friend to CBS New York to encourage anyone with information about her missing daughter to come forward.
The young girl can be seen in the clip innocently singing popular lyrics from “Frozen,” smiling, and talking to the camera.
Its been two weeks since Alavez disappeared from a Bridgeton city park the afternoon of Sept. 16 while playing on the playground with her 3-year-old brother. Her mother had been nearby in a parked vehicle when her son ran up crying saying he couldn’t find his sister.
The disappearance has sparked a massive search effort by law enforcement authorities and the community.
Last week, the FBI announced it had set up a special page where people can easily upload pictures and videos they may have taken near the park that afternoon as investigators continue to search for clues into her disappearance.
Bridgeton business owner Melissa Helmbrecht told CBS New York she had already sent footage she captured outside her business of cars going back and forth between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. that night.
“Every kid matters, especially somebody as precious as she is and we’re just waiting for her to come home safe,” she said.
Shortly after Alavez disappeared, Bridgeton Police said in a statement that witnesses reported seeing the 5-year-old being led to a red van with a sliding door. Police said she may have been seen with a Hispanic male with light skin, who appeared to be between 5’6” and 5’8” inches tall, with a thin build, no facial hair, and acne on his face. He was wearing orange sneakers, red pants, and a black shirt.
However, Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari has said investigators are continuing to examine all possibilities in the young girl’s disappearance.
“We don’t have any solid suspects,” he said shortly after she disappeared, according to KYW-TV. “We’re investigating all the possibilities.”
Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae told NJ.com on Sunday that there had been no updates in the investigation.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact authorities. Alavez is described as a Hispanic girl about 3’5” tall with a medium build. She was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, black and white long checkered pants with a flower design, and white sandals.
