6 Heartbreaking Videos That Showed A Happy Family Before Chris Watts Allegedly Killed His Wife, Kids
In one video, their daughter Bella sings about her "hero dad," who is now accused of murdering them.
The nation has become fixated on the tragic story of a slain family from Colorado. Chris Watts was arrested on suspicion of murdering his missing wife and their two daughters on Wednesday, one day before their bodies were discovered. Shanann Watts, 34, and daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, went missing Monday from their home in Frederick, Colorado. Shanann was 15 weeks pregnant. Chris 33, now faces three counts of murder and one charge of obstruction of justice for allegedly tampering with evidence in the case.
The family’s digital footprint painted a pretty picture. On Facebook, Shanann referred to Chris as “my ROCK!” and “the best dad us girls could ask for.” On Valentine's Day, she posted on Instagram: “I love this man more than words can say! He’s my Rock, my love, my biggest fan, supporter and my husband! I couldn’t of hand picked a better man to call my husband and father to our girls!”
Even more heartbreaking are the videos that Shanann posted to her Facebook page. Here are six videos that showed a happy family, or at least the illusion of one.
1. Bella sings about her “hero dad”
In June, Shanann posted a video of Bella singing about Chris.
“My daddy is a hero, he helps me grow up strong,” the child sings while sitting in a car seat. “[...] He reads me books. He ties my shoes. [...] My daddy, daddy, I love you.”
“I totally just cried!” Shanann wrote in the video’s caption.
2. Chris reading to Bella
Just as Bella stated in her song, Chris really did read to her, as evident in this clip. Chris and his daughter lay on the ground as he reads her a book about space and gravity.
3. Shanann revealing her pregnancy to Chris
In the clip, she’s wearing a shirt that says “Oops, we did it again,” a clever nod to the Britney Spears' song "Oops, I did it again."
Chris walks into the room and stops dead in his tracks. He seems shocked, then excited. He laughs at Shanann’s shirt and smiles.
“Really?” he asks.
“Really,” Shanann confirmed.
“That’s awesome,” Chris says in the clip. Then, the couple go in for a smooch. “I guess when you want to, it happens.”
4. The girls being excited about their future sibling
“Guess what, girls? Momma has a baby in her belly!”
They girls begin kicking their legs and exclaiming “yay!” They jump up and down with excitement. Bella goes in to hug the baby.
5. Praying before dinner
A video posted by Shanann shows Chris and their daughters praying before enjoying a meal.
“Thank you God for everything.”
6.Family workout
Chris can be seen doing squats with Bella on his back. Celeste does squats besides them as their mother cheers them on.
