Man Staged Elaborate Break-In To ‘Save’ Ex-Roommate Who Spurned Him, Cops Say. Instead, He’s Charged With Her Murder
Asgeirr Ulfr, 26, allegedly bungled a plan to stage a break-in so he could "rescue" Christina Scarr.
A man from Florida waited in a closet overnight to stage a break-in so he could "save" his ex-roommate, authorities said. Instead, he’s accused of killing her.
Asgeirr Ulfr, 26, from Apopka, allegedly killed Christina “Danielle” Scarr on April 6 because she wouldn't date him and was seeing someone else, according to recently released court documents cited by the Orlando Sentinel.
Ulfr's sister, Danielle Brown, told police it was all part of a plot to win over Scarr by saving her from a home intruder.
“He said that it was an accident, that he didn’t mean to kill her and he just wanted to scare her and hurt her because she hurt him so bad. [He also said] that he wanted to be her savior, he wanted to be the one that came in after [what] a quote-unquote intruder did and save her,” Brown told detectives, according to the Sentinel.
She'd overheard Ulfr talking about the incident with his attorney and went to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office with the information.
Ulfr, who met Scarr when they both worked at Olive Garden and lived with her for a short time in February, snuck into her house in Apopka and hid in the closet overnight until her boyfriend left, court documents said.
When the boyfriend left in the morning he attacked her, binding her arms and choking her until she passed out, according to police records. He cut off some of her hair because it was in the way and then choked her again when she woke up, investigators said. After that, he allegedly drove to a McDonalds and got rid of his clothes and the keys to Scarr's house.
When he returned, allegedly to free her, she was dead. Ulfr then shot himself in the foot and called 911, according to police records. He said he found Scarr like that when he came over and that he was shot, possibly by a woman, according to WFTV in Orlando. He was hit, documents said, when he slapped the gun out of the intruder's hand. The intruder ran out the back door, he said.
However, investigators quickly debunked his story because the burglar bar was still attached to the back door. Authorities also have video of Ulfr at Walmart buying zip ties, duct tape, a ski mask and some boots, according to police records. Police found the same type of zip ties in his rental car, as well as other items he allegedly threw out in the dumpster.
Ulfr was indicted on a first-degree murder charge and could face the death penalty. He's at the Seminole County Jail in Florida.
