‘America's Got Talent’ Finalist Reportedly Arrested For Domestic Violence One Day After Filming Finale
Fifth-place finisher Michael Ketterer reportedly got into a fight with his wife in their hotel room.
“America’s Got Talent” contestant and finalist Michael Ketterer was arrested for domestic violence this week following an altercation with his wife.
A media relations officer for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People that Ketterer, who placed fifth on the reality show, was arrested in Hollywood on Thursday afternoon on a domestic violence charge — just one day after filming the finale. He was later released after posting $50,000 bail, according to TMZ.
The 41-year-old singer — who moved audiences not only with his voice, but with his story of being a father to six children, many of whom he and his wife adopted — got into an argument with his wife in their hotel room that day, prompting a call to the cops, TMZ reports. When officers arrived, they reportedly noticed a “red mark” on his wife’s chest, suggesting an injury, according to TMZ.
Ketterer admitted that the cops were called to the hotel room he shared with his wife because they got into an argument, but he told the outlet that the incident was a “misunderstanding.” Ketterer’s wife told authorities that she did not want to pursue charges, but they told him that they had no choice but to arrest him, he said.
Video obtained and published by TMZ reportedly shows Ketterer sitting in the back of a police car parked outside of the hotel he and his wife were staying at prior to his arrest. His case will be handed over to to the Los Angeles City Attorney, according to TMZ's sources, but his charge is expected to be changed from a felony to a misdemeanor because the alleged injury was not major.
