Gypsy Rose Blanchard Is Deleting Her Social Media Accounts: "I Did a Bad Thing"
The move to deactivate her accounts came after Gypsy Rose issued an apology on TikTok.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is taking a step back from the spotlight.
The 32-year-old revealed in a since-deleted TikTok video that she is taking down her public social media accounts, PEOPLE recently reported. Blanchard explained in the clip that she made the decision after receiving criticism from members of the public.
"Number one, to all the people that I offended with a lack of accountability, the first month or so that I was out of prison and the lack of accountability in my interviews, I'm sorry. I'm learning. I take accountability for my part, and I'm saying this right now. I'm taking accountability. I did a bad thing," she explained.
Blanchard began posting to social media after being released on parole from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri in December 2023. Within a matter of days, the former convict's Instagram had gained millions of followers, according to Time.

Why did Gypsy Rose Blanchard delete her social media accounts?
In addition to public backlash to her online activity, it seems Blanchard was also motivated by her parole officer, PEOPLE reports. The outlet noted that her final decision "was at the advisement of her parole officer, so she won’t get in trouble and go back to jail."
She noted in her video that she is apologetic and hopes people will give her "a little grace" as she navigates this new chapter in her life.
"Let my actions match my words and we'll go from there," she said.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Social Media Accounts
Though she deleted her Instagram and TikTok accounts, she maintains private accounts on both platforms for her close family and friends. She noted in the deleted video that her private account has "#LoveForWhoIAm" in her bio because, "to my family, my dad, my husband. All I am is just Gypsy. And they love me for being who I am."
Blanchard shared numerous updates to her public social media profiles after being released, giving followers a glimpse of her life outside of prison and revealing the plans she and her husband, Ryan Anderson, had for the future. In fact, she candidly shared that she and Ryan were enjoying the privacy that freedom offered, divulging that her husband was "rocking my world every night."
The couple wed while Blanchard was serving time on second-degree murder charges tied to the murder of her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard, who was stabbed to death by Nicholas Godejohn, Gypsy Rose's boyfriend at the time.
