New Dateline Podcast Deadly Mirage Exposes Seemingly-Perfect Couple’s Dark Secrets

“Dateline’s newest podcast takes Josh Mankiewicz to Silver Lakes, a lush manmade oasis in California’s Mojave Desert, where Rob and Sabrina Limon seem to have the perfect life: two young children, a beautiful home, and a tight-knit group of friends who call themselves the ‘Wolf Pack’” the podcast description reads. “But when Rob is found murdered, investigators uncover deep secrets about sex, friendship, and religion that shatter carefully crafted illusions.”
The story begins in Silver Lakes, an unincorporated community in California some have dubbed the “happiest place in the high desert.”
“It was a desert oasis, lush and green, home to a tight-knit group of 30-somethings who liked to party and took to heart the biblical commandment to love thy neighbor,” Mankiewicz intoned in the podcast’s trailer.
The parties could get wild, with one neighbor in the trailer admitting to some playful “sexual activities” with the Limons and his wife.
The unconventional arrangement seemed to work for the couple, until a “handsome outsider” came to town and disrupted their carefully crafted life.
“Our latest podcast takes us to a railroad outpost on the edge of California’s high desert where passion leads to murder and a killer seeks God’s help with the coverup,” Mankiewicz explained in the trailer.
When Rob was murdered at work, his friends were left stunned.
“He knew his attacker,” a voice intones in the trailer. “That somebody knew intimate details about his life.”
In the aftermath of the tragedy, alliances began to shift as investigators tried to piece together the murder.
“It’s a story about love and betrayal,” Mankiewicz said. “It’s about indiscretions and a string of bad choices … Most of all, it’s about the danger of indulging delusions and allowing daydreams to become nightmares.”
