Elizabeth and Molly Kendall say the place they held in Ted Bundy’s life and the public connection he had to them that may have spared them from his dark side.
Caril Ann Clair, along with notorious serial killer Charles Starkweather, embarked on a killing spree more than 60 years ago that claimed several members of the woman’s family.
“It was just two mothers that had lost a child,” Vivian Winters said of her decision to offer Louise Bundy compassion. “She didn’t have to apologize. She didn’t do this. Her son was sick.”
“She’s got a piece of her that responds to him, and I didn’t want to see that piece be exploited again,” Molly Kendall said of her decision to keep Ted Bundy away from her mother, Elizabeth Kendall.
