Multiple women have reportedly made contact with investigators about the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer, as authorities vow to vet the alleged encounters.

Suspect Rex Heuermann remains in custody as investigators continue to search his Long Island home and other properties.

Rex Heuermann was charged earlier this month with killing at least three women and burying their remains on a remote stretch of highway along Gilgo Beach on Long Island.

Asa Ellerup, who's divorcing her husband Rex Heuermann, the suspect in Long Island's Gilgo Beach murders, was out of the country during the time of the deaths, according to authorities.

Investigators say they have "at least" one person of interest in the deaths of four women found in the Portland area. 

Prosecutors shared new insights into how they zeroed in on the man they believe is responsible for at least three murders attributed to the Long Island Serial Killer.
