Florida Man Allegedly Slammed New Neighbor’s Head On Cement Driveway During Brutal Attack
Ronald Coyle Jr. is alleged to have assaulted an unnamed woman before retreating to get a knife from his garage and threatening her.
A Florida man was arrested earlier this week after being accused of brutally assaulting a female neighbor, bashing her head onto a concrete driveway, then threatening another neighbor with a machete.
Ronald Coyle Jr., a 35-year-old resident of Collier County, was arrested on Sunday after an alleged brutal attack on a woman who lives near him in the Capri Court area in Marco Island, according to an arrest report obtained by Oxygen.com.
The victim told deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office that Coyle first said something to her that she couldn’t understand because she doesn’t speak English. Coyle then allegedly attacked her, pushing her and bashing her head into the cement driveway “several times.” He also punched her numerous times in the back and tried to shove his thumbs into her eye sockets several times before she managed to get away, police said witnesses told them.
A second victim — an unnamed male who lives across from the street from Coyle — saw the commotion outside and heard multiple people screaming for help, so he came outside and shouted at Coyle to stop, the report stated.
Because Coyle was distracted, the woman was able to escape, but Coyle then allegedly retreated to his garage only to come back with a machete. He then allegedly started walking toward the unnamed man, saying, “I know you’re afraid of me” and “I see you.” At that point, the man retreated into his own garage and shut the door.
The unnamed man’s wife told police that she and her husband witnessed Coyle attacking the unnamed female neighbor and that they could hear her head hitting the cement from across the street, the arrest report stated.
Authorities called to the area just before 9 a.m. to investigate what was described as a “domestic disturbance” said that Coyle was “agitated, excited, disoriented, and fatigued,” according to the sheriff’s office.
When officers tried to ask Coyle questions, he was unresponsive or would respond by giving answers that were not related to their questions, the report alleged. He was arrested at the scene and has been charged with aggravated assault on a person aged 65 years or older and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, permanent disability, or disfigurement, online jail records show. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 14.
The woman who Coyle attacked told authorities that she had just moved to the Capri Court area. A motive for the crime has not been shared publicly, but the victim told police that the night before Coyle had been “acting crazy” and had been taking drugs.
