The Dutch man is the subject of the new Peacock documentary Pathological: The Lies of Joran van der Sloot.

Natalee Holloway's confessed killer has been extradited back to Peru to serve the rest of his prison sentence for an unrelated murder. 

Joran van der Sloot was reportedly on his way back to Peru on Tuesday, after the U.S. Marshals Service said “mechanical issues with the aircraft” delayed his extradition on Monday.

“She was killed just by standing her ground,” Beth Holloway said of her daughter's final moments. “I was so proud of her.”

Van der Sloot claimed to have killed Holloway after she rejected his advances on the beach in Aruba.

Joran van der Sloot confessed to murdering Natalee Holloway with a cinderblock in 2005, saying he smashed "her head in with it completely."  

Natalee Holloway disappeared in May 2005. Joran van der Sloot, believed to be the last person to see her alive, plans to plead guilty to extortion and wire fraud for an alleged plot against her mother.

“He does not want to be extradited to the United States of America,” defense attorney Máximo Altez said of his client, Joran van der Sloot.
