Suspect Rex Heuermann remains in custody as investigators continue to search his Long Island home and other properties.

Rex Heuermann was charged earlier this month with killing at least three women and burying their remains on a remote stretch of highway along Gilgo Beach on Long Island.

Asa Ellerup, who's divorcing her husband Rex Heuermann, the suspect in Long Island's Gilgo Beach murders, was out of the country during the time of the deaths, according to authorities.

Long Island resident Rex Heuermann was charged with six counts of murder relating to three of the women in the Gilgo Beach serial killings. 

Prosecutors shared new insights into how they zeroed in on the man they believe is responsible for at least three murders attributed to the Long Island Serial Killer.

Police said Heuermann was also monitoring the news for information on the Gilgo Beach murder investigations.

Ten victims have been officially linked by law enforcement as a series of serial killings which have resulted in remains being scattered across Long Island's beaches.

Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder in the deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello.

Sherre Gilbert and John Ray insist that Shannan Gilbert, long linked to the Long Island Serial Case, didn't die in what police have described as "most likely an accident."
