Harvey Weinstein is now accused of two sexual assaults in Los Angeles hotel rooms in 2013, days before being seen with his pregnant wife, Georgina Chapman, on the Oscars red carpet.
"Now that The Weinstein Company is in bankruptcy and Harvey is about to stand to trial, this settlement will ensure that all survivors have the chance for recovery and can move forward without Harvey's damaging lock on their careers," plantiff Louisette Geiss said.
The film and television company founded by Weinstein has been named in multiple lawsuits after a host of sexual misconduct allegations against the movie mogul surfaced.
"Jane Doe was a virgin, and had no intention or understanding when she agreed to a business lunch that she would be put in this alarming position," the lawsuit states.
"Mr. Weinstein has denied these allegations. He enjoys the presumption of innocence and vigorously denies these charges. He intends to fight them," lawyer Benjamin Brafman said.
“This indictment brings the defendant another step closer to accountability for the crimes of violence with which he is now charged," Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance said.
“This is an extraordinary case in my judgment, where the only rape victim that Mr. Weinstein is accused of raping, is someone who he has had a 10-year consensual sexual relationship with,” his lawyer Benjmain Brafman said.
